Creating Classes

How to create classes within asset configurations

  1. Click ‘Edit’ against a configuration within the configuration table.
This will open the tree view of the configuration.

📘

Each element of a configuration is held as a unique class.

Therefore, for example, if you are building a configuration that has three levels of hierarchy;
System > Sub-System > Asset Class.
You will need to create the hierarchy from the top down.

AIMS offers up to five levels of hierarchy:

System
Sub System
Functional Group
Sub Functional Group
Asset Class

  1. Click ‘+ New Class’ to create a new class.
  2. Within the Create Asset Class window, enter the details of your class.
If you are creating a class that at the highest hierarchy level you can leave the ‘Parent Class’ field empty.
  3. Click Save.
  4. Refresh the tree view by clicking ‘Refresh Tree’ to see your updates.
  5. Repeat the steps 2 through 4, to add further classes as required.

Building a Hierarchy Sturcture

To build a hierarchy structure, when creating a class, enter a parent class. As you start typing the name of an existing class, this field will display the available classes to select from.

Refresh the tree and you will see the new classes following your defined structure.
